OPEN CALL:
STORYTELLERS, ARTISTS & SHOW PROPOSALS

Are you a storyteller with a captivating tale?

Ottawa Storytellers invites storytellers and artists of any discipline to be part of the 2026 Signature Series, Ottawa’s premier storytelling event.

Who is a Storyteller?

A storyteller is a performer who shares tales that entertain, inspire, and connect with audiences. Whether your story is personal, historical, mythical, or drawn from lived or imagined experiences, your unique voice brings it to life. Storytelling is an art form that weaves words into compelling narratives, engaging listeners in powerful ways.

About the Signature Series

The Signature Series is Ottawa StoryTellers’ flagship program, showcasing the richness of storytelling through live performances. From deeply personal narratives to grand epics, these shows bring diverse voices to the stage.

Performers will collaborate with our Artistic Director and experienced coaches to refine and present high-quality storytelling performances. We welcome professional artists from any discipline who are interested in exploring storytelling in a live setting. Whether you have a fully formed show or just the seed of an idea, we want to hear from you! Our Artistic Director can help develop your concept and connect you with artists and coaches to bring it to life.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking passionate storytellers with compelling ideas. Whether you have a fully developed show proposal or just an early-stage concept, we encourage you to apply. Our Artistic Director will work with selected applicants to refine their ideas, build connections with other artists, and shape their performances.

Your proposal should include:

  • Your Concept: What story do you want to share, and why is it important to you?

  • Your Format: How do you envision presenting your story to a live audience?

  • Stage of Development: Are you submitting a fully formed show or an idea that needs further development? Share any details about format, themes, collaborators, or inspirations.

Not Ready to Tell a Story?

If you're an artist from any discipline but don't wish to perform a story yourself, we still encourage you to reach out! There are many ways to contribute—whether as a musician, visual artist, or performer supporting storytelling events.
